How to Spend 3 Nights and 4 Days in the Maldives with a Family of 6

Our Unforgettable Stay at Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa

The Maldives isn’t just for honeymooners it’s a tropical paradise perfect for families too! We have spent 3 nights and 4 days at the Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa as a family of six, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. With crystal-clear waters, vibrant marine life, and thoughtful family-friendly amenities, it’s a dream vacation for parents and kids alike.

Maldives is just a 4-hour flight from Dubai, making it an ideal destination for a quick tropical escape. We enjoyed a short but sweet family getaway last October, and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. It aligned beautifully with all our planned activities. While we spent most of our time soaking up the beauty of the resort, we made it a point to experience as many of the family-friendly activities offered by Sheraton Maldives as possible during our stay.

Day 1: Arriving in Paradise
Although we arrived after sunset, the island was nothing short of breathtaking. Under the dark sky scattered with stars, we were greeted by the gentle breeze and the sound of waves lapping against the shore. The calm nighttime setting gave us a peaceful, dreamy welcome. The warm hospitality of the Sheraton staff made us feel instantly at home.

Check-In Experience:
The Sheraton team welcomed us with refreshing drinks and kid-friendly amenities. Our rooms were spacious and connected—ideal for a big family like ours.

Quick Unwind:
We let the kids take in the beach views from our room’s deck and enjoy a few moments dipping their toes in the cool night plunge pool that its included in our villa. After settling in at the resort, we had a quick dinner using our prepared meals from home a lifesaver when traveling with kids! We always make it a point to bring easy, pack-and-go food during flights and transfers. It helps keep the kids satisfied, especially during late arrivals or unpredictable travel delays. Having our own snacks and light meals ready meant we could cope anytime, anywhere no meltdowns, no stress.

We originally planned to fly during the daytime so the kids could enjoy the journey, and most importantly, so we could take in the Maldives' spectacular views upon arrival. However, our flight brought us to the resort in the evening and to our surprise, it was still magical. One of the reasons we chose Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa was its proximity to the airport—just a short 15-minute speedboat ride away. This was a big plus for us, especially since I experience ocean sickness, and anything longer than that might have been too much.

In the Maldives, getting from island to island often involves additional travel by boat or seaplane, which can be both time-consuming and costly especially for families. It's important to note that transportation fees are usually charged per person, and children have different rates, which can add up quickly.

For our budget-friendly family trip, Sheraton was a practical choice because the speedboat transfer was included in our package. While adventurous travelers may want to explore the many islands across the atolls, for us, staying close to the airport gave us more time to relax and enjoy the resort without the extra travel stress.

Top Travel Tip:

For fellow parents, this is one of our top tips: pack familiar food for your kids when traveling. Whether it’s sandwiches, fruits, crackers, or their favorite treats, it makes transitions smoother and keeps everyone happy until the next proper meal.

Day 2: Snorkeling and Exploration

Each morning at Sheraton Maldives began with a sumptuous breakfast spread that truly exceeded our expectations. The food was not only delicious and fresh, but offered a wide variety to satisfy everyone—from hearty options for adults to kid-friendly favorites.

We found ourselves lingering at the breakfast table for over an hour, not just because of the flavors we were devouring, but because it became a cherished moment of slow, quality family time. With the beautiful island breeze and ocean views in the background, it was the perfect way to start the day.

Once we were happily full and recharged, we took a leisurely walk to the activity area, ready to kick off our island adventures. One of the things we loved most about Sheraton Maldives is that they offer a wide range of bookable activities for all ages—from thrilling water sports to relaxing beachside experiences. But if you prefer a more laid-back day, you can simply explore the turquoise-blue beach with its unbelievably soft sand, or grab your snorkel and dive into the calm, clear waters right off the shore.

Our older kids, aged 15 and 14, absolutely enjoyed kayaking, paddling around the peaceful lagoon and soaking in the stunning views. Meanwhile, our younger ones, aged 8 and 6, were thrilled to go snorkeling just near the shore. The underwater scenery was breathtaking vibrant fish in every color imaginable swimming through the coral. It was so mesmerizing that we completely lost track of time and spent the entire day in the water!

Theres unlimited adventurous for teen or a little explorer, Sheraton Maldives has something unforgettable for every member of the family.

Here are some additional tips:

Morning: Guided Snorkeling Adventure
Sheraton offers family snorkeling trips with guides who are great with kids. We explored nearby reefs and spotted colorful fish, sea turtles, and vibrant coral all in safe, shallow waters.

Afternoon: Kids Club Fun
While we enjoyed a relaxing at the beach, the kids had a blast at the Sheraton Kids Club. Activities included Maldivian craft-making, treasure hunts and creating dream catchers.

After a full day of swimming, snorkeling, and exploring, our bodies were happily exhausted. Instead of heading out for dinner, we opted for in-room dining—and it was the perfect choice. We ordered a sumptuous meal that arrived hot, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Enjoying a quiet dinner in the comfort of our room gave us time to unwind and recharge. It was absolutely filling and satisfying, especially after such an active day. With full bellies and happy hearts, we tucked in early—ready for another day of island adventures ahead.

Day 3: Dolphin Cruise & Reef Adventures

Morning: Water Sports Galore
We signed up for snorkling and kayaking again—safe and fun for older kids, and a great way to enjoy the lagoon together. Although we didn’t meet the minimum number of participants required to join the scheduled group snorkeling trip, the resort staff went above and beyond to offer us an alternative private experience. They arranged a visit to a nearby spot known for harmless reef sharks, giving us a chance to witness these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.

It turned out to be one of the most exciting and memorable moments of our trip! Watching the sharks glide gracefully through the water was both thrilling and awe. Inspiring an unexpected highlight that made us appreciate the resort’s effort to make our experience extra special.

We had lunch at the Anchorage Bar, where pizzas, burgers, and smoothies kept everyone happy. The infinity pool right next to it gave us a great family hangout spot.

Afternoon:
One of the highlights was a private sandbank excursion. The resort arranged a boat ride to a secluded sandbank where we had a picnic, swam, and built sandcastles—it felt like having our own island!

One of our absolute favorite moments in the Maldives was the Dolphin Cruise, booked through Sheraton’s activity center. We weren’t sure what to expect—but what we got was pure magic.

As our boat cruised along the calm waters, suddenly, dozens of dolphins appeared, flipping, dancing, and swimming right beside us. It was overwhelming in the best way—so many dolphins, so close, performing in nature’s playground right before our eyes. The kids were squealing with joy, and even we, as adults, were left speechless by the experience.

To top it all off, we witnessed one of the most breathtaking sunsets we've ever seen—golden light melting into the ocean as the dolphins played around us. It was a once-in-a-lifetime memory, one we’ll carry with us forever.

We will truly miss the beauty of the island and the unforgettable magic of the dolphins.

Whilst the children were rested, my husband and I had a very romantic dinner by the beach, the staff were very humble and approachable. The view was outstanding and the ambiance was superb. defiitely one of the most romantic places we have had tried. The staff in the restaurant offered us acomplimentary dessert and a beatiufl note.

Day 4: One Last Dip & Farewell

On our final morning, we took a sunrise beach walk, with the kids, and enjoyed one more relaxing swim before breakfast. The island was quiet and peaceful, a perfect way to say goodbye.

We packed up slowly, soaking in every last view from the plunge pool villa, grateful for the experience. We left the island with full hearts, new memories, and stories to last a lifetime.
